I walked into Austin's room wearing an I heart NY shirt. And Austin says to me:

"Mom, you have a heart on your shirt!!"

" You're right Austin, I do."

"Are you wearing that because you know I love you sooooo much, more than anything?"

Matthew David Buhler

Matthew David Buhler 1990 ~ 2009 Beloved son and brother, Matthew David Buhler unexpectedly left behind his mortal existence on Friday, January 16, 2009. Born May 4, 1990 to David L. and Lori G. Buhler, Matthew was a loving and much-loved son of our Heavenly Father. He attended Dilworth and Bonneville Elementary Schools, Clayton Middle School, and graduated from East High School in 2008. He had just completed his first semester (with straight A's) at the University of Utah where he was planning to major in Chemical Engineering. A whiz at mathematics and a quick learner, Matthew was enjoying school and looking forward to gaining a great university education. He worked part-time in the post office at the University Campus Store and prior to that at Trailside Cleaners. A gifted athlete, at various times of his life Matthew played and excelled at soccer, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, skiing and snowboarding. He loved physical fitness and exercise, and no matter how busy with homework, work, or social life, always dedicated at least an hour a day to working out. He also loved music and played the piano, drums, bass and guitar. He was an avid reader and enjoyed trips with his family to the Homestead, San Diego, Bear Lake, Washington D.C., New York City, Yellowstone, and especially Hawaii. Matthew loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a Priest and active member of the Foothill Seventh Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was preparing to serve a full-time mission. A special moment in his life was this past December when he visited the Alabama Birmingham Mission and had the opportunity to go with missionaries to teach the Gospel. With a million-dollar smile and dry wit, Matthew had many friends and touched many lives and will be missed by more people than he realized. He loved his devoted dog, Dawson. Matthew was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Gene and Lois Goaslind and Robert and Phyllis Buhler, and by a cousin, Abigail Taber. He is survived by his parents, his younger brother and best friend Spencer, sisters Jennifer, Emily and Allison, and numerous cousins and aunts and uncles. "Matthew, we love you with all our hearts. You have left a large void in our family, and we will miss you every day of our lives. And yet, we look forward in faith to the day when we will see you again and you will greet us with open arms." Funeral services will be on Friday, January 23, 2009, at 12:00 Noon, at the LDS chapel at 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the chapel Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment: Sunset Lawn Cemetery. After taking Austin to build a bear to get Austin's birthday present I asked him:

"Was this a good present for you?"

He said:

"Yes! It was even better than the sticky arrow thing I wanted!"
(referring to a Nerf Bow and Arrow)

Alyssa said this morning 7/13:

"My tummy's sick. I need strawberries."

Alyssa absolutely HATES when I pull my hair up. So whenever she see's it up, or me about to pull it up, in the process of pulling it up, or even thinking about pulling it up she says:

" Take er hair out!!!" or "No hair up!!!"

and I listen and do what she says!!
