After taking Austin to build a bear to get Austin's birthday present I asked him:

"Was this a good present for you?"

He said:

"Yes! It was even better than the sticky arrow thing I wanted!"
(referring to a Nerf Bow and Arrow)

Alyssa said this morning 7/13:

"My tummy's sick. I need strawberries."

Alyssa absolutely HATES when I pull my hair up. So whenever she see's it up, or me about to pull it up, in the process of pulling it up, or even thinking about pulling it up she says:

" Take er hair out!!!" or "No hair up!!!"

and I listen and do what she says!!

not really a quote, but, lately Austin has been starting most of his questions with: "Do you remember when I was a baby and..."

it's so cute!

again not really a quote, but, today in sacrament meeting during the hymns Alyssa would sing in her high pitched voice while looking at the hymn book, she was so sincere, it was adorable!

more cute kid quotes:

We were up camping and we were being a little loud and Austin says:

"be quiet, you don't want to wake up the bears!"

Alyssa was in the car, and she fell asleep, when we got home we said

"Wake up, Alyssa we're here!"

Austin said:

"She's not asleep she is just praying."

We went over to my sister Melissa's house on Sunday to celebrate her little girl Grace 7th birthday!! I can't believe she is 7 already. I still remember driving to the hospital straight after work to go see her for the first time!! She had a hard start and was up at Primary Childrens Hospital for a while and had surgery on her newborn tiny body. She pulled through and is a very active healthy little girl, you wouldnt even know she had such a hard beginning.
She got spoiled!! all the kids love getting together to play, they have the best time and no one ever wants to go home!! It's the best being so close to your family, and making best friends within that family. I only had 2 cousins that I saw and they were much older than me, so I love the fact that my kids have so many cousins in their age group.
Later that night we went over to Chad's mom house to celebrate Nick's 30th birthday with a dinner. We always have a great time with Chads family too. We all get along and we enjoy eachothers company we sit and talk and goof around while the kids play and have a great time!!!
Monday (memorial Day) not such a great day for me. But thank goodness Chad had the day off work to be able to watch the kids. I was sick in bed all day except for the few times I had to run to the bathroom to throwup!! yuck!! We had plans to go see the new Indiana Jones Movie but we had to cancel them...bummer! Maybe next weekend.
This morning I woke up feeling achey and yucky again but now I feel almost back to normal...what a weird bug!!
We think we might go camping this weekend but we will see, it is supposed to be good weather but who knows!!!

Hogle Zoo

Cutie Patootie!

My Friends Keri and James came over to visit before they left on their trip to Disney World (we are so jealous) they brought with them their stinkin' cute 2 month old boy, David. Austin loves babies so he got to hold him, and it was so cute, little baby David was cooing at him and smiling at him, Austin loved it!! But sadly they had to go home to get some sleep so they could make their flight to Florida (we are still so jealous) Thanks for coming to visit, I can't wait to get together again!

James, Keri and David

Austin admiring little baby David

Baby David, look at his smile!
Austin was eating some skittles and after his handful was gone he said: "mom, I just tasted the rainbow."

more quotes from the kids...

we were out on the trampoline and all of a sudden Alyssa says:

"Shake yo, bum bum, Shake yo, bum bum" wiggling her hips from side to side.

We were outside just before sunset and Austin looked up in the sky and said "silly moon, you cant come out when the sun is up, you have to wait until the sun goes to bed, silly moon." (so sweet)

I forget what Austin had said but my mom and I were laughing at whatever it was and Austin grabs my face and says "mom, it's not funny, its cute!"

Alyssa's new saying " goobye, have a g'day"

I love my kiddos

Our New Car

OK, So Chad and I paid off our car in February, so instead of enjoying being without a car payment for a while we decided to go get a new one, it's so nice, we love it I cant wait to go on vacations in a roomy vehicle, its going to be great!!!

we bought a 2008 Honda Pilot

We love our Hondas!!

Escalante for Easter

We went down to Escalante over Easter weekend. Darrel and Rose are officially moving everything in at the end of the month, they were going to be closing on their home up in salt lake the following wednesday. We rode down with Casey and D and baby Preston. This was their first road trip with the little guy and 4 hours in a car can go great (if they are sleeping) or it can go how it did with our trip down.
We stopped in Scipio , Austin had to go potty, and D though she would feed the baby. Well, he wouldnt really eat, and while she was feeding him she felt a warm feeling on her legs and tummy. He had an exploding diaper that got all over him, his blanket, and all over D!!! I helped her in the bathroom, try and clean him up and change his outfit, about an hour later we were back on the road. I guess he was crying pretty hard so they decided to pull over and try feeding him again. and It pretty much went on like this the rest of the way. A 4 hour car ride turned into 6....I am sure they dont think it is funny, yet but someday they will.

Darrel, Chad, Austin, Asenath, Lil D, Nick, Kim and Jaydyn went on the spooky gulch (its a slot canyon with narrow passages) hike. And the little ones did really good they all had their moments but did really good.
The next morning (Saturday) The Easter Bunny had come and left a big easter egg hunt....the kids had a lot of fun and so did the adults, because we got to watch their excitement. We then went over to Grandma Roundy's house. She has a huge property full of trees and shrubs and sand hills where the boys like to play paintball so we played for a few hours. My only goal was to get Nick. I had no such luck so at our final game, I said Nick" It's on, put your mask back on and lets go" We had a little shootout...He got me first but I kept shooting I was determined to get him and finally I got him on the top of his head....sweet victory (in my book) The only bad thing about the trip is, I dropped our camera and it broke!!!

The drive home went much better. We got home on Sunday around noon. My mom had made some Ham and Cheesy potatoes and the best dessert ever...her strawberry shortcake...yummy! We also had another easter egg hunt for the kids, it was so fun!!!

funny?

I know Chad and I shouldnt think things like this are funny anymore but over the weekend Austin asked Chad and I a question so sincerely but it was gross and funny so we both laughed he got a little upset, but you'll see why, this is how it went:

Austin:"mommy?"
Me:"yes?"
Austin:"If you stick your hand up your bum really far, will it come out your mouth?"
(laughter from the front seat from Chad and I)
Austin: "stop it!"
Chad: "ya buddy, it would, but dont ever try it, your smart to be able to figure that out."
Austin: "I know"

This was a while ago but it is something I dont want to forget....

while we were driving down the road, Austin shouted out "STOP LOOKING AT ME!!!"

I said "who are you talking to?"

He said: "The Sun"

The sunlight was shining right in his face and he had to keep his eyes squinted....so cute!!
Alyssa has started undressing herself and tries to get dressed on her own too!
Chad's Aunt Viki and cousin Margo came up to Salt Lake from Arizona to visit. We all got together tonight for a family dinner. It was good to see everyone. I can't believe how much everyone changes each time I see them.
Babies were the hot topic of discussion tonight. Viki's daughter had her 3rd AND 4th daughter--TWINS, on Valentines Day. Their names are Isabelle and Olivia. Kim had her little baby Seth not too long ago on November 18th and Casey and D had their first little babyboy-Preston on February 27th. So our family has had a bit of baby fever!! And because I get to be the aunt and not the new mommy this time around, I am loving every minute of it (baby is snuggly and cute in my arms...baby starts crying and goes to mom or dads arms)... It was good to see everyone.
Austin and Alyssa are getting to the point that they fight bedtime. I remember doing this myself, so I am sure it is just payback. I told Austin that if he would please go to bed and stay in bed then I would take him to go see the Easter Bunny at South Towne Mall on Wednesday.....he quickly did as I asked. I am excited to go. I invited my best friend from high school, Jessica and her little boy Noah who is Austin's age to come with. I hope it works out. It seems like every time we try and do something one of us has something....I guess that is the life after high school, being married and having children. I am glad that we even keep in touch at all.

Austin's entered the world of questions....as in he asks them non-stop. As of right now I love it!
his latest are about different animals teeth and eating habits...

"Mom, polar bears dont bite people, they only bite fish because they live where it's cold, but what about at the zoo, do they bite people there?"

"Mom, do Sharks bite snakes?"

"Dad, the lions can't get me at the zoo, because they are in a cage, right?"
Alyssa's new word...cuz!

Alyssa why are you dumping that powdered sugar out on the table...."cuz."
Last night I stayed up with Ashley until 5am!!! Why you ask?!?! We have been so bogged down watching kids from sun up until sun down and we stayed up late just doing girly things and having a good time. I paid for it today though...I have been exhausted all day. We went out to lunch with Luan, Nick Kim and kids, and I brought Grace along since I was tending her today. We went to Cafe Rio...yummy! I was hoping Diana and Preston would come but they weren't feeling up to it quite yet. We are getting together for dinner tomorrow night at Nick and Kim's with Chad's Aunts and cousins and they are planning on coming to that. I did get to see Seth and he is growing so fast. He looks like a little boy and not a newborn anymore. The weather has been so nice and then we got a surprise snow stormwith 1 1/2 inches...crazy!! We went out to dinner with my mom, Melissa and Grace, Jeff and Jen and Ashley. It was fun we don't really ever go out to dinner with my family, so it was afun change. Chad and I were invited to Adam Lynch's 30th birthday party. We weren't able to go. We stayed home hoping to talk to Jeana about how she has been acting lately, but surprise, surprise she didn't get home until after 8pm...I was bummed that I had to miss the party. I dont really get to see Jessica very often. We are hopefully going to try to get together on Monday. Tomorrow is our Stake Conference. Elder Dallin H. Oaks , a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Is speaking. I better get to bed so I can get the sleep I need to pay attention!

Today was a pretty good day. Chad had 6 cavities filled yesterday and one of his teeth was bothering him so he went in early this morning and had the Dentist file it down so it felt like 'normal' again. The kids and I had a good day. Matt and Kevin have been waiting for a kids show to come to theater so they could take Abby and Austin. Today 'Horton Hears a Who' came out to theaters so this was the perfect opportunity. Tyler and Ryan overheard and wanted to go too. So they all went. Matt and Kevin said the kids did really well, and sat in their seats the whole time and were giggling and laughing at the movie. I guess there was apart where they kept calling eachother a boob and they all thought that was pretty funny. While they were at the bank I ransome errands, went to the bank nothing exciting. I had Haylie and Alyssa with me and I think they enjoyed the extra attention. When I got home I did 'The Firm' workout, it was interesting considering my obliques were still really sore from yesterday at the gym, but once I got through the warm up it was nice. I am very proud of myself I have already lost 8lbs and just started 2 weeks ago. When Chad got home the kids wanted to go to the park. I had told them as long as the weather was good I would take them. I looked out the window to see tiny snowflakes! I couldnt believe it, wehad been having the nicest weather...oh well I am sure tomorrow it will be sunny again. Mike came and picked up his kids and I love them to death, but I always feel like I can finally relax when he has them on his weekends. Chad is getting excited for our trip to escalante next week. He has been painting my paintball gun with some hot pink accents. Getting all of his hunting stuff ready so he can try out his new bow and making lists of everything we need to bring. Darrel and Rose sold their house this week, so Darrel should be moving down their at the end of the month. We are going to miss having them so close, but are glad that they are still in driving distnace (about 4 hours) so we can visit often. Tomorrow is going to be busy. I am tending Grace for the day while Mark and Jack are in Wyoming for his BMX racing and Melissa is at work. I hope she doesn't get too bored. She is always such a help and keeps Austin and Alyssa busy. Maybe I can get some cleaning done. We'll see....

I know, I know I am going overboard....

I started a "spencer family journal" so that I could keep track of our day to day happenings and thought I would put it on a seperate blog, so I didn't bore allofour readers... Our 'meet the spencers' blog has been a great journal and scrapbook, but there is so much more of the "little things" that I want to remember and look back on that I don't blog. So here goes....
